About Us

At Mr. Magic Carpet Ride Productions we strive to put a great deal of personal attention to every project that is taken on. We are local artists based out of Denton, Texas that enjoy helping people with issues that are solved by creative, multi-media solutions.

Working out of the home office is important for our comfortable working atmosphere that inspires long hours of dedication on our clients' projects. And although we are happily working at home near each other and our beautiful daughter, we use commercial grade editing equipment to meet the needs of the most technologically demanding jobs.

My wife, Christi, has had an amazing eye for photography ever since we met, and has a real mind for out of the box, creative photography. Currently she shoots with a Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 50D Digital SLR camera, a vintage Canon A1 with various lenses, a Holga 120 with color Flash attachments, a Kodak Brownie, a Kodak Duaflex TLR, a Rollei 35SE, a Fish-Eye camera for those creative projects, and an entire collection of other various antique film cameras. Although we are big fans of crystal clear digital images, utilizing the Adobe Master Collection and Lightroom 3, Christi has the ability to shoot your project with the previously mentioned vintage cameras that can't be duplicated with any effect.

Most of our work is shot using the Sony-EX3 high definition digital camera which has been approved by major networks such as The Discovery Channel as meeting the requirements for broadcast quality high definition video. Both cameras have a 1/2" CMOS image sensor which means they work incredibly well in low light and they have more information in the image than almost every other "High Definition" camera less than $10,000. However, certain projects which require up to 5K resolution may need to take advantage of our Red Epic-M capabilities. The Epic-M shoots at a resolution which is five times higher than any high definition camera on the market which is the reason it has been used in several blockbuster hits and television shows such as Avatar and Louis CK. We've also fallen in love with the 5D Mark II for projects with a more modest budget or with a final delivery method over the internet; the depth of field is great!

I also really enjoy using our Canon 512XL super 8mm film camera for those projects that call for a true vintage look, not a digital effect. All of our super 8mm footage is processed, transferred and color corrected by Spectra Film and Video in California using a DaVinci color correcting machine; that means deeper, more accurate colors on all of our vintage projects.

Originally, music was my focus when producing videos, but documentary style work has become part of my daily video editing. I have really enjoyed helping new couples remember their wedding days, schools capture huge productions of their plays, clients promoting their business, producing professional live music films and simply learning new ways to use the video medium as a way to help people express things they care about. We are editing all movies using the full Adobe Master Collection, the entire Final Cut Pro 7 Suite, and have equipment to print directly on CD's and DVD's in full color, as well as color laser printers to print any packaging that goes along with those needs.

Curious about where the company name comes from? I am a jazz guitar player and used to play in a band that required a lot of guitar gear. In order to feel comfy while at gigs, I used to take a small rug with me to set my equipment on. Christi thought this was the funniest thing she'd ever heard of and would tease me about not forgetting to bring my magic carpet ride with me to shows. When first doing video work locally years back, we would jokingly tell people that the name of our business was, "Mr. Magic Carpet Ride Productions," and so it has been ever since.

We look forward to working with new clients on a personal basis and are happy to answer any questions you might have in an email, over the phone, or at a meeting in a location of your choice.
